DONE!

I can't believe it but the Home Management AND Work Management Binders are DONE!!  That's right people...I said DONE!  So...the first thing that became a challenge for me was the dividers!  I needed 15 total and well I could not find any at Target (I KNOW RIGHT...COULDN'T FIND IT AT TARGET??!!?!) so I had to make my own!

I love the way Clean Mama does hers (check them out here) but when I close my binder the dividers hang out and I'm too anal for that...sorry! I can't handle it...so I was sitting her yesterday and today stewing over how I was going to do this?!?! Then I looked up and on top of my file cabinet are about 100 new and previously used manila folders! Just basic, plain, boring, FREE manila folders. Well I made a few cuts...

punched a few wholes, and printed some fun funky labels and there ya go....15 FREE dividers!

I decided that I loved the font for the dividers so much I would go ahead and print out some cover sheets:

What I did find at Target (notice sweet red clearance sticker) is a cute little "tab" kit with some very fun printed long tabs and basic clear/white tabs.  I am thinking that since it is difficult to see some of the dividers with all the papers and other dividers I might use these colorful tabs to help me easily flip to certain sections.

You could also use printed file folders (there are many beautiful designs out there) or if you were really needing some color and sassy"ness" to the dividers cover them in scrapbook paper.  I did not need to worry about that!  I'm all about function right now and again I have the sassy tabs.

In the Home Management Binder I have the following sections:
Calendar (Clean Mama-CM)
Christmas Planning (yes...don't judge CM)
To Do (CM)
Cleaning (CM)
Menu Planning (CM)
Budget (FPU-Dave Ramsey Forms)
Goals/Mission (momagenda.com)
Family Information (CM)
(CITY we live in) Fun Stuff (Original)
Vacation Planning (CM)

Some unique things about my Home Management Binder would include the Christmas Planning Kit...I love Christmas and I make a lot of gifts.  This year my goal is to really start ironing out some of those gifts and some of our plans during the summer to make the whole experience less stressful.

We are FPU graduates and follow the plan.  What I have in our budget section includes the Monthly Cash Flow Plan and our Debt Snowball.

Goals/Mission:  I need and enjoy writing out goals and I'm working on creating a Mission Statement for our family.  We'll see...

City we live in Fun Stuff:  We live in a great city that offers a lot of FUN, FREE Stuff.  I'm going to be keeping some different lists here to include-location, price, best time to visit, age restrictions, etc.  I'm working on creating this document.

Also the front of the binder I have laminated a sheet titled "Daily Planner For" and it has sections which include TO DO List, Errands to Run, Phone Calls, Thoughts for the Day, Tomorrow.  I laminated it because in my fun new pencil case I'm going to use a dry erase marker on that sheet and just wipe is done to try to use it over and over as many times as possible!  (I will take a picture of my pretty cute pencil case tomorrow...it's in the other room and I'm tired!)

My Work Management Binder has the following sections:
Goodies By Greiner
Blogging (CM)
Writing Opportunities
Crafts & Projects
Job Search

These areas are all things I'm working on...the job search is slim as I'm being HIGHLY selective about jobs I'm applying for and I've decided to look more in the area of Higher Education (so far...2 jobs).  I also have a laminated front sheet for this binder but it's MY WORK:  WEEK AT A GLANCE.  It has a column for each day and then small blocks at the bottom for the first four sections listed above.

Now having these put together I'm super excited...but the real test will be...DO WE USE THEM?  So...the next couple weeks will really be a test to how often and if they are going to become the tools we need to use in our home!  I'm hoping they are because I've spent a lot of time on them already!

Alright...gonna watch some TV and hit the sack!  I'm exhausted but waiting to take my next does of sniffle meds!  12:30am can't come fast enough!!!  Good Night All!

This is my first time reading about a home management binder. It sounds like a great idea, and works well with my planner personality. ;)

What a great idea! Twins are my oldest, and I totally get how important it is too stay organized with little ones at home. I have a similar method, except I use one of those portable 13 slot file folders for the different categories. Right now I am trying to consider which approach I like best. I always love to change things up!

It is so funny, today I was just looking on amazon for a new planner/organizer and not finding anything I liked (I am so OCD about organizing) I decided I would have to DIY. This has just given me the motivation to start. I will have to do a post with my finish product and link yours in as well!
